The exact date of the development of the first hearing aid is unknown, but the first written description was in Natural Magick written by Giovanni Battista Porta in 1558. Some are even quite chic, offering Bluetooth technology and music streaming via iPod, which helps to remove the stigma of aging in our youth-obsessed society.

Even some of the smallest hearing aids today allow the wearer to connect directly to TVs, computers, CD players or other electronic devices. These types utilize what is known as ‘direct audio input’ technology; they are so designed that most persons wouldn’t even know that you are using one, assuming instead, that you are just utilizing the technology like everyone else.

Types of almost invisible hearing aids

Almost invisible hearing aids are those worn inside the ear or ear canal itself. These are fitted based on the severity of hearing loss, the size, and shape of the person’s ear and the style.

With this type the social stigma that still exists to some degree will be greatly eliminated. In fact these new lightweight and small hearing aids have one main disadvantage, they are often lost or can be difficult to find when taken out and placed on a surface.

No longer does anyone regardless of age have to decide to between ignoring their hearing problems and wearing hearing aids. The new invisible devices make this choice a non-issue, and hearing aid wearers can now use them stylishly and proudly.

At a glance, the game of craps may look complicated, but in actuality it is really quite simple. Here’s a simple craps game flow for you to grasp:

If the come-out roll is a 7 or 11 (which craps rules label a natural) the don’t pass loses and the pass line wins. The shooter (person rolling the dice) has another chance to set a point and rolls another come out roll immediately. If the come-out roll is a 2, 3, or 12 (called ‘craps’) the don’t pass line wins, or ties and the pass line loses. The don’t pass bet is a tie when the come-out roll is a 12. The shooter once again gets another chance to set a point. In order to pass the dice along the shooter must first set a point, and then ‘7-out’ by hitting a seven before he/she hits the point number again.

If the come-out roll is a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10 then that number becomes known as the ‘point’. The dealers will then place a little puck with the word ‘ON’ written on it and put it on top of the number that is the ‘point’ on the layout. This is just to remind players that the session is on, and what the point number is. Before the dealer did this, the puck would have been just off the table with the ‘OFF’ side up. The shooter will keep rolling until one of 2 things happen: if they roll the number that they had set to the point (i.e. they made the point) the don’t pass bettors lose and the pass line bettors win. If a 7 is rolled before the point number is rolled (which is called 7-out), the winners are the reverse: don’t pass bettors win and pass line bettors lose. In both instances, the round is over. THE VINCE LOMBARDI LEGACY

Vince Lombardi has become virtually synonymous with the NFL. This began during his career: he was featured as the face of the NFL on the cover of Time on December 22, 1962 as part of the magazine’s cover story on “The Sport of
the ’60s.” Lombardi’s players were wholeheartedly devoted to him, and his emphasis on hard work and dedication endeared him to millions who admired his values.

In addition to Lombardi’s contributions to the history of professional football, Lombardi is legendary for his coaching philosophy and motivational skills. Many of Lombardi’s speeches continue to be quoted frequently today, and he is well known as being unequivocally committed to winning.

“Lombardi time” is the principle that one should arrive 10-15 minutes early, or else be considered late. His chief scout, Wally Cruice, once said of Lombardi’s single-minded devotion to the game: “you didn’t talk about anything but
football. If you didn’t have the facts, he didn’t want you to waste his time.”

Lombardi is also credited with introducing the concept of zone blocking to the NFL. In zone blocking the offensive line players block as a unit, instead of individually man-to-man, as was the norm up to that time. The running back
then was expected to run toward any hole that was created. Lombardi referred to this as “running to daylight.”

Lombardi’s grandson, Joe Lombardi, is an offensive assistant with the New Orleans Saints. Vince also had a brother, Joseph, who was active in the National Football Foundation and college hall of fame. Joseph died in 2005.

* In 1967, Highland Avenue in Green Bay, home to the Packers’ Lambeau Field, was renamed for Lombardi.

* The Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center at Georgetown University is named in his honor.
* The Vince Lombardi Cancer clinic at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay is named after him.
* The Vincent T. Lombardi Center at Fordham University was named for the coach.
* The Rotary Lombardi Award is given annually to the best college football lineman or linebacker.
* The football field at Old Bridge High School in Old Bridge, New Jersey is called “Vince Lombardi Field.” It has been called this since the 1970s, the field in Palisades Park is also known as “Vince Lombardi Field.” His brother Joe attended the rededication ceremony in the 1990s.
* Lombardi is a recipient of the Silver Buffalo Award, the highest adult award given by the Boy Scouts of America.
* Immediately renamed following his death in September 1970, the Vince Lombardi Trophy is given to the winner of the Super Bowl annually by the NFL.
